Silke Otto-Knapp is a Los Angeles–based German artist and professor. Known for her monochromatic watercolor paintings, which employ a labor-intensive technique of pushing paint around the canvas, the artist creates a beautiful, silvery surface. Her work is filled with images of landscapes and dancers. Otto-Knapp is influenced by Michael Clark and is currently included in his retrospective Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer at the Barbican in London. The Fogo Islands in Canada serve as the backdrop for many of her landscapes.
