Edition of 100, Acrylic, 80" x 8"
Designed by legendary Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, known for his cheeky gestures, this extra-long, fringed acrylic scarf mimics the traditional look of European sports fan scarves. The front is woven with “Aspen Art Museum” and the year of our founding (1979) and a vibrantly striped back reads “Art Matters”—the art world equivalent of a team chant.
Art Matters™ is a non-profit foundation which supports artists working in contemporary art and performance whose work intends to break ground aesthetically and socially. The foundation began as the brainchild of philanthropist Laura Donnelley and educator Philip Yenawine in 1985 and has since given over 2000 grants directly to US artists for fellowships and projects all over the world. www.artmattersfoundation.org
