As well as practicing as an artist, Richard Carter co-founded Aspen Art Museum in 1979. He came to Aspen in 1971 and worked as Herbert Bayer’s painting assistant before splitting his time between California, where he worked as an art director on films. Technically proficient, the influence of the Bauhaus can be seen throughout these works from the 1970s.
